Yona of the Dawn is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mizuho Kusanagi. The series has been serialized in Hakusensha’s shojo manga journal Hana to Yume since August 2009, and its chapters were published in forty-one tankobon volumes as of May 2023. A 24-episode anime television adaptation created by Pierrot was aired from October 2014 until March 2015.
About 2000 years ago, the fictional country of Kouka was established through the Crimson Dragon God, who made his way into Earth out of into the Heavens as a man, considered the Crimson Dragon King. The belief was that humans lived in a time filled with evil, a thirst for power, and lost sight of the Gods.
Ultimately, Kouka’s Crimson Dragon King is required to fight humans. Just when he was about to be killed, and the entire world was at risk of destruction, There were four different Dragon Gods, imbued with the blood of dragons joined by human warriors, and assisted in bringing Kouka toward prosperity. After clearing Kouka of all evil and evil, the Crimson Dragon King died. Four Dragon warriors cried out their leader’s loss and left the castle, leaving Kouka to grow over time into five tribes: Sky, Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire. As the generations passed, this story was rewritten into the most famous myth of the founding.
The story begins 2000 years later with Yona, the only princess of Kouka, under the rule of her pacifist father, King Il, of the Sky Tribe. Despite living a lavish and sheltered life within the walls of the Crimson Dragon Castle and being befriended by just her bodyguard Hak, general of the Wind Tribe, and Soo-won – King Il’s brother’s son whom she has been in love with for ten years – Kouka is about to suffer political unrest once again.
A week before her fifteenth birthday party, Yona visits her father, King Il, intending to tell him of her plan to marry Soo-won. To her shock and dismay, he forbids it. Come the night of the party, undeterred by his refusal; she heads to his chambers once more. There she finds Soo-won driving a sword through King Il’s chest – the prince had planned a Coup d’รฉtat and was set to become Kouka’s next King. In response, Yona and Hak immediately flee from the capital and seek refuge in Fuuga with General Son Mundok – Hak’s adoptive grandfather.
The general then directs them to an exiled priest who speaks of a myth about the Crimson Dragon King and four Dragon warriors who unified the nation. Taking this as her only hope for survival and saving her country, Yona embarks on a journey seeking these warriors.

An official announcement is the best way to ensure an anime’s sequel. Unfortunately, we havenโt received any Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Release Date officially since its first season ended. Producers and studios last communicated statements or release dates half a decade ago.

Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Plot
The next season will cover the events of volume 9 of the manga. If that is the case, Yona will take the four dragons to Hiryuu castle, where she will try to defeat Su-won’s army and regain control of the kingdom.
As the kingdom’s rightful ruler, she deserves to wear the crown. The exciting concept for next season would be Su-won’s plans for the kingdom and Yona’s confrontation with his old love. Su-won managed to snatch it away from her and gain control. We can rest assured that whatever comes next will be immersive and entertaining. We can see how Hak, Yun, and the other dragons react and how their relationships will change.
Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Episodes
The season 1 of the series had 24 episodes, and we expect the same for Yona of the Dawn Season 2 as well. The main protagonists will go on a quest to find the four dragons while at the same time facing their inner demons and tensions between them. We hope to see some funny moments between Yona, Hak, Shin-ah, Yun, Kija, and the other dragons in this season as they continue their journey to save Kouka kingdom from Su-wonโs rule.
