The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled the IPL 2024 Auction for December 19 in Dubai—the deadline for teams to confirm their player lists and maintain choices before this tournament is November 26. The upcoming IPL season will feature ten teams, with the match set to begin in March 2024.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2024, scheduled for December 19, 2023, in Dubai, is a mini-auction, allowing teams to acquire only a limited number of players. While the exact location is unknown, speculation points to the Coca-Cola Arena. During the Auction, teams are given a total budget of 100 crore for player acquisitions.

Each team can keep up to four players from their current squads and release up to five. The Auction is pivotal for IPL fans, revealing the newest additions to their favorite teams. Simultaneously, it provides a significant opportunity for players to secure lucrative contracts in one of the world’s most prestigious cricket leagues.

IPL Auction 2024 Budget

The team purse has increased by Rs 5 to Rs 100 crore ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, a rise from Rs 95 crore the previous year. The current value of their players will determine the money allocation per club during the Auction. Each team has a budget of INR 100 crore for the IPL 2024 Auction, which will help them build their squads for the coming season. It is a significant increase of 5 crore over the previous season’s budget.

IPL 2024 Auction Rules

  • Captains of the respective teams are permitted to use team sheets when the match begins.
  • Two DRS opportunities are available.
  • Rescheduling authority is vested in the BCCI.
  • Wides and no-balls are subject to review.
  • The wicketkeeper will deem it unfair if a dead ball or the cumulative penalties reach approximately 5.
  • A technical team will be on standby to implement any changes in IPL matches authorized by the BCCI.
