Whitstable Pearl released its 12th episode on December 12th 2022, and garnered an immediate rating of 7 from IMDb and 88% from Rotten Tomatoes. This British thriller has been adapted from two of Julie Wassmer’s novels, Disappearance at Oare and The Whitstable Pearl Mystery. Whitstable Pearl was created by Øystein Karlsen and produced by him and Julie Wassmer with Buccaneer Media and Acorn Media Enterprises.
The inaugural season of this show it was premiered on Acorn TV from May 24th, 2021, to June 21st, 2021. Although not officially categorized as a mini-series, it follows the format with six episodes per season, suggesting it falls into that genre. In an interview, Øystein Karlsen confirmed that the crew has not started working on season 3. Although he did not state any concrete date for its release, Karlsen expressed his excitement to work on the third season in the future. He admitted that even after the first two seasons’ success, it will be quite a difficult job to meet up with the expectations of fans. Hence, it is only natural that they are taking a significant amount of time before starting production.
