There is a war between belief and evidence, religion and science, and the myth and the reality. Asur season 2 has become much of a buzz with the return of Kali (the protagonist) who according to the mythology marks the end of Kaliyug.

In the first season of Asur, the police and forensic experts investigate a serial killer’s pattern, motives for the murders, and a possible suspect. The 2020 series concluded with a surprising cliffhanger that exposed Amey Wagh’s Rasool Shaikh as one of Shubh Joshi’s followers, who claims to be Asur.

The second season of Asur starts with Warsi’s character, Dhananjay “DJ” Rajpoot, seeking solace in a monastery after losing his wife and friend, Lolark Dubey, to the killer. Meanwhile, Nikhil Nair (played by Sobti) attempts to end his life following the loss of his daughter with his wife, Naina (Goenka).

Although the first part of the show took some time to catch on with viewers due to introducing the cast and plot, Asur season 2 picks up where it left off and avoids getting bogged down in unnecessary details or convoluted plot twists early on. Creator Gaurav Shukla and writers Niren Bhatt, Abhijeet Khuman, and Pranay Patwardhan maintain the show’s momentum and keep it simple at the outset.

In the upcoming season, Dhananjay and Nikhil will strive to save their country and seek justice for their loved ones. Unlike the previous season, they will have different approaches to achieving their goal. Nikhil will collaborate with the CBI and an undercover investigation team led by Paul, following the rules. Meanwhile, Dhananjay will take matters into his own hands and join forces with Nikhil’s wife, Naina, a programmer.

The current season answers all the questions that were left unanswered in the previous part, including the true identity of Asur, his motive, and the origin of everything. Director Oni Sen uses modern technology to tell the mythological story clearly and straightforwardly, making it easy for viewers to watch.

The filmmaker creates a suspenseful atmosphere that keeps the audience engaged. Additionally, the visual aspect of the film is enhanced by the talented performances of Warsi, Sobti, Dogra, and Goenka, as well as the negative characters portrayed by Wagh and Gaurav Arora.

This time, the younger and older “Asur” Shubh Joshi, played by Vishesh Bansal and Abhishek Chauhan, respectively, have won the hearts of the audience with their perfect portrayal of cunningness, horror, and calm on their faces. They look appropriately vicious for their roles as the lead antagonists.

Asur 2 Review: Let’s talk about the loopholes in Asur 2?

There are a few things that quite seemed idiotic to us at first. Naina, as a “Talented ” programmer, runs the basic commands on CMD prompt to open Google homepage.

All the so-called CBI officers act dumb and confused while cracking the cases. The weakest role was that of Forensic expert Nikhil Nair.

Evidence and logic of the CBI only work when it comes to framing their own while missing the mainstream topic.

The biggest of all is how an entirely fake employee works as a mole in the heart of the CBI.

Asur 2:Final Verdict

The only thing that makes this series worthwhile is Asur (Shubh Joshi). The rest of the characters just play around puppets on his fingertips. Although it may take some time for Asur 2 to find its footing and establish its direction, it’s worth sticking with if you’re a fan of both thriller and mythology genres. The show’s director has delivered something unique and special to Indian viewers with its one-of-a-kind concept, making it a must-watch. If you’re searching for something gripping and distinct amidst a sea of web series, Asur Season 2 is the perfect choice.
