7 Features the Maruti e Vitara Will Offer Over the Grand Vitara

The upcoming Maruti e Vitara is one of the most highly anticipated electric vehicles from the brand. Not only will it mark Maruti Suzuki’s major entry into the mainstream EV space, but it’s also going to bring along several features that go beyond what the Grand Vitara currently offers. With overlapping prices expected for some variants, here’s a look at seven key features that the e Vitara will get over its ICE sibling, the Grand Vitara.

Screens

The e Vitara will boast larger screens on both ends of the driver’s view. It will get a 10.1-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display. In comparison, the Grand Vitara uses a 9-inch infotainment display and a 7-inch digital cluster. These larger screens in the e Vitara will offer a more high-tech and premium cabin experience.

Airbags

Safety takes a small step up in the e Vitara. It will become the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle in India to offer 7 airbags. However, this feature will likely be limited to the top variant, while lower trims might come with 6 airbags. On the other hand, the Grand Vitara offers 6 airbags as standard across its higher trims, which is good, but the e Vitara edges it out in this department.

ADAS

One of the biggest highlights is the introduction of Level-2 ADAS. The e Vitara will come with advanced safety and convenience features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. While such features are slowly becoming common in even smaller SUVs like the Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO, this will be Maruti’s first go at a Level-2 ADAS setup. While the total number of speakers hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, leaks suggest the setup could feature as many as 10 speakers for a richer and more immersive listening experience.

Roof

Unlike the Grand Vitara’s opening panoramic sunroof, the e Vitara will come with a fixed panoramic glass roof. The idea here is to reduce aerodynamic drag and possibly weight—important for improving EV range. While you lose the open-air feeling of a conventional sunroof, the fixed glass still allows plenty of light into the cabin.
