If you loved the boy with half-human and half-deer abilities, you must be awaiting him in Sweet Tooth Season 2. Since the premiere of Sweet Tooth on Netflix, fans have been twiddling their thumbs, waiting for the opportunity to meet their favorite characters once more. If you’re hoping we’d have some good news regarding the release date, you’re out of luck.

Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to provide an official release date for Sweet Tooth Season 2. However, it’s not all bad. The good news is that the production for the second season has now concluded and is now in the post-production stage.

What We Know about Sweet Tooth

The Sweet Tooth TV series is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series that premiered on Netflix on June 4, 2021. It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire. The series follows a young boy named Gus (played by Nonso Anozie), half human and half deer, as he tries to navigate a world ravaged by a pandemic. The series also stars Will Forte, Stefania LaVie Owen, Adeel Akhtar, Neil Sandilands, and Nia Vardalos.

The Sweet Tooth TV series was created by Jim Mickle and Max Borenstein, who also serve as executive producers. Ber produces the series, with Jim Mickle directing the first episode. The series was announced in November 2019, with Netflix ordering eight episodes.

The series received mixed reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 50% approval rating with an average rating of 5.5/10, based on 22 reviews. The website’s critical consensus reads: “Sweet Tooth has plenty of heart – and some interesting ideas – but its post-apocalyptic fantasy setting feels like too much of a stretch for its family-friendly tone.” On Metacritic, it has a score of 52 out of 100, based on 9 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews.”

Many reviewers praised the acting performances, particularly Nonso Anozie as Gus. The Hollywood Reporter’s Inkoo Kang wrote, “Anozie is a true find as Gus, playing the boy with an endearing earnestness.” Variety’s Maureen Ryan praised Anozie’s performance as “quietly charismatic.”

The series was also praised for its visuals. IndieWire’s Ben Travers wrote that the show is “visually stunning” and “features some of the gorgeous cinematography on television right now.” The AV Club’s Danette Chavez praised the show’s visuals, writing that they are “gorgeous” and “detailed.”

Sweet Tooth Season 2 Release Date Speculation

Sweet Tooth Season 2 Release Date

Season 2 of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth has come to an end. On June 6, 2022, Netflix announced the news at Geeked Week with a behind-the-scene video of the cast and crew members celebrating the news. The production finished ahead of schedule on June 10, 2022.

Sweet Tooth Season 2 will premiere on Netflix with a three-minute preview. The opening of Sweet Tooth Season 2 features a voiceover by James Brolin that explains, “This is a tale. It’s the story of a unique group of individuals who found themselves at the end of filming Season 2 of Sweet Tooth.”

The crew and the cast members express their enthusiasm for the program. “It’s been a long road, but it’s been really enjoyable,” said Nonso Anozie (played as Tommy Jepperd) in the news.

Dania Ramirez (played as Aimee) added, “The stakes are higher, the battles are bigger, [and] the mean guys are meaner.”

The Sweet Tooth Season 2 will have eight episodes and continue the narrative of hybrid births begun in Season 1. Gus (played by Christian Convery), a young boy who is half-human and half-deer, is the main character of the story. He lives in a secluded area with his father.

Dania Ramirez stars as Aimee Eden, a former therapist-turned-vigilante who plans to rescue her adopted hybrid daughter Wendy and all other kids from Abbot’s forces.

Jim Mickle will be the showrunner again in the second season of the post-apocalyptic fantasy drama. Executive producers, Susan Downey and Robert Downey Jr. will reprise their roles alongside Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran.

Sweet Tooth season 2 Plot speculation

Season 2 of Sweet Tooth will likely follow the plot of the comic books relatively closely, though the TV series isn’t quite as dark. At the end of Season 1, The Last Men have Gus in captivity, and other Hybrids are planning to save him.

We learned that Gus’s mother is in Alaska, but we don’t know what she’s doing there. Then there are Big Man, Pigtail, and Bear – each with their own stories intertwined with Gus. In the comics, we don’t learn about the virus that caused such mutations in the human race until issue 26. But there’s a chance season 2 will be brave and take a different narrative path.

Sweet Tooth season 2 cast speculation

Sweet Tooth season 2 cast

We’re not sure if Convery will return for Sweeth Tooth season 2. Still, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, Naledi Murray, and Neil Sandilands should all be back in their respective roles. Beyond that, we may anticipate additional Hybrids, more of the Last Men, and any other surprises the show has in store for us character-wise.

The comics kept a small cast of characters to feed the themes and settings’ loneliness and isolation. The Netflix series has expanded on this and will certainly do so again to develop the setting further. Perhaps this will be it; Gus, Big Man, and Pigtail will try over and over to find salvation.

Sweet Tooth season 2 trailer speculation

There is no trailer for Sweet Tooth season 2, and we don’t know when one will be released. Netflix keeps news about its releases under wraps until just before the premiere date.
