Sweet Magnolias Season 3 Release Date & Cast
The Sweet Magnolias Season 3 has not been confirmed by the creators. Despite this, according to current reports, filming and production photography are said to have begun for Season 3. Sweet Magnolias is an American Netflix original series that explores romance and drama themes. Sheryl J. Anderson created the program based on a book called Sweet Magnolias by Sherryl Woods.
Sweet Magnolias Season 3 Release Date: Speculation
Sweet Magnolias Season 3 is confirmed to be in production in May 2022, as revealed on social media in the Sweet Magnolias writers’ room. They simply wrote, “We’re returning to Serenity, all of you! We are so happy to announce that Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias is happening. I’m excited to see you all again.” The new episodes were shot beginning on July 18, with a photo posted by the cast showing their directors’ chairbacks covered with flowers and the show’s name.
Sweet Magnolias Season 3 is currently in production, and the writers were ecstatic to announce that it would resume soon. Given this information, we expect they will have completed it within the next few months. We’ll keep an eye out and let you know when it’s finished.
The girls’ return date is uncertain. Given that the previous two seasons did not have a similar release pattern, it’s difficult to guess. The first season debuted in May 2020, but the second didn’t arrive until almost two years later, in February 2022 (due to epidemic-related delays), so it’s hard to say when the next one will come.
A show like Sweet Magnolias, which doesn’t require special effects, takes approximately nine months to a year to film. So, if filming for the new season began today, we wouldn’t expect any new episodes until Spring 2023 (between April-June). We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Magnolia Season 3 Cast: Who’s In and Who’s Out?
Sweet Magnolias would not be the same without the main magnolias, which are JoAnna Garcia Swisher (who plays Maddie Townsend), Brooke Elliot (Dana Sue Sullivan), and Heather Headley (Helen Decatur). All three have been confirmed to return.
The main cast from the first two seasons will be returning, including the three children: Tyler (Carson Rowland), Kyle (Logan Allen), and Annie (Anneliese Judge). Chris Klein’s character Bill, who was less present in season two due to his philandering ways, still has some impact on the other characters.
Although he won’t have a major presence, he’ll almost certainly show up in at least one or two episodes throughout Sweet Magnolias season 3. If it’s only to ensure his numerous children are doing well.
Sweet Magnolias Season 3 will see the return of Lynn Spears, who played new mum Noreen, and Ashley Madekwe, who played Bethany’s eldest sister Linzi. Lynn Spears has also confirmed her role in Sweet Magnolias Season 3 by sharing photos from her dressing room on the first day of filming with the caption “It’s giving #Season3” on Instagram. Her character’s hair color was previously teased when she dyed it brown.

Jade Eshete, who plays Maddie’s on/off husband Ronnie, had a second-season redemption arc and was welcomed back into the family home. So unless something major occurs and he departs for good, you can anticipate his return.
Young Isaac (Chris Medlin) only just found his feet after searching for his birth parents in Serenity. Similarly, Cal (Justin Bruening) found himself in custody after flying off the handle as old anger issues re-emerged.
The likelihood of either character completely disappearing without notice is slim, especially given their history of resilience. There’s also a possibility of new additions to the show, but we’ll keep you updated when any announcements are made.
Sweet Magnolias Season 3 Plot: What will it be about?
A lot needs to be covered in Sweet Magnolias Season 3. In an interview with ET earlier this year, star JoAnna Garcia Swisher said the show would probably pick up “close to where we left off.” She added that it wouldn’t make sense to come back and skip over what happened with Helen and Justin after so much time had passed.
No secret was made by showrunner Sheryl J Anderson about her wishes for a third season, even before confirmation, as she teased what lies in store for the group. A return from Dana Sue’s past- a shady figure- that will haunt her is specifically mentioned.
In the season-two finale, Dana Sue’s daughter Annie was grabbed by a mystery woman at Mrs. Francis’s funeral, who shouted that her mum had ruined lives. By the end of the episode, fuzz caught the same woman sabotaging Sullivan’s delivery van with a boxcutter on someone’s camera phone.
When the footage was shown to them, Maddy, Dana Sue, and Helen recognized her immediately – with one simple comment: “She’s back.” When discussing this enigmatic figure, showrunner Sheryl J Anderson told TVLine that she has a history in common with our heroines and some other people in town.
After being away for some time, Dana has returned with a plan. She’s come home to take care of unfinished business–including repairing her marriage to Ronnie. After letting him back into the family home, will their reunion last, or will he return to his previous ways (particularly cheating on her)?
The second season of Life Below Zero, titled after Dana Sue, picks up right where the first one left off. Helen is being proposed to by her ex-boyfriend Ryan, and she has to select between him and her new love, Erik.
“I could see her going either way, and of course, they don’t tell me,” Headley told TVLine. “Netflix is concerned that I’ll spill all the secrets for a good bowl of macaroni and cheese.”
As for the aftermath of the altercation at Sullivan’s–with Cal getting taken away by cops after his anger management issues came to a head when he lost his job as high school coach–it remains to be seen.
What will Maddie do after knowing the secret side of Cal?
Sheryl stated that if there is a potential Sweet Magnolias Season 3, Cal needs to explore why he lost it when not losing it is so crucial to him and what choices he can make in the future–not just for himself but also for the people he loves.
There’s the recall election in the town, and Maddie is still being pressed to take over for Mayor if he loses. If it happens, it will infuriate the Mayor’s vengeful wife even more, and she’ll undoubtedly find new dirt on Maddie’s loved ones (particularly seeing how easily she created ripples).
Finally, there’s Issac, who has discovered his real parents after they learned of his existence. On the other hand, Bill seemed convinced that he was the most fertile man in Serenity and refused to have anything to do with his secret kid, even though he had never known about him until now.
Once the initial shock dies down, will he change his tune? Or will he lose it over Issac’s tight bond with Noreen–the woman who had a child with the man that ended his marriage to Maddie?
