Sebastian instead has his eyes set on Annette (Witherspoon), the sweet and virginal daughter of their Manhattan school’s new headmaster, for blackmailing material. 

As a result, malicious lies, girl-on-girl French kissing complete with spittle, and general snotty behavior occur from Sebastian – until he falls in love with Annette. That causes Kathryn to seek revenge which unfortunately ends in tragedy. Though it was met with mixed reviews, the film has garnered a cult following in recent years. Phillippe and Witherspoon became engaged during filming and were married when it opened; they divorced in 2007.
