YNG Cheese, Son of Rapper Gillie Da Kid, Fatally Shot in Philadelphia
On Thursday, a tragic incident occurred in Philadelphia, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Devin Spady in a triple shooting. Devin, also known as YNG Cheese, was the son of rapper Gillie Da Kid and a co-host of Barstool Sports’ “Million Dollaz Worth of Game.”
The shooting took place in the 5,800 Mascher St. area, as confirmed by the Philadelphia Police Department. The investigation into the incident is actively being handled by the Homicide Unit.
The heartbreaking news was shared by Gillie’s co-host, Wallo, on Instagram, where he posted several photos of YNG Cheese, including a touching image of him with his 2-year-old son. The loss of this young musician has deeply impacted those close to him and the entire community. Here’s what Wallo wrote on the social platform, “Lil Cuz usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you. Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life Cheese. I got your father, Rest Well (broken heart emojis)”
The news of YNG Cheese’s tragic death has deeply impacted the entertainment community, prompting several notable figures like 21 Savage, Sway Calloway, Big Boi, and 03 Greedo to pay their heartfelt tributes.
According to Philadelphia authorities, the shooting occurred around 8:24 p.m., and Devin Spady, using the stage name YNG Cheese, was taken to Einstein Medical Center. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m. after being shot in the back.
The other two victims, a 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, were also taken to the hospital and are currently in stable condition. However, the police have yet to make any arrests, and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
Sources have confirmed that YNG Cheese was Devin Spady’s stage name, and at the scene, 10 spent shell casings were discovered. Additionally, one of the victims sought refuge in a nearby home during the incident. The investigation is now focusing on an SUV found running at the corner of Mascher and Nedro Avenue.
