In season 1, Kim Min-kyu (Yoo Seung-ho) leads a lavish yet isolated life due to an extreme sensitivity to physical contact with others. The mere touch of skin triggers severe, spreading rashes on his body. Jo Ji-ah (Chae Soo-bin), on the other hand, is working on establishing businesses based on her innovations, including two heart-shaped lamps.
Min-kyu holds the position of director and major shareholder at KM Financial, a position he inherited from his parents who tragically died in a car accident 15 years prior.
KM Financial is in charge of the Santa Maria conglomerate, led by Professor Hong Baek-gyun (Um Ki-Joon). Professor Hong’s team has secretly developed a highly advanced humanoid robot known as AG3.
Hwang Yeo-Chul and his father Hwang Do-won attempt to sell the Santa Maria conglomerate to the Bold Group. To dissuade Kim Min-kyu from selling, Baek-gyun presents the robot to him for demonstration. Shortly before Aji 3, the robot, is to be delivered, it malfunctions. Baek-gyun enlists Ji-ah to pose as the robot, buying the team time to repair Aji 3. Lured by the offer of 10 million won, Ji-ah reluctantly agrees to impersonate the robot under the Santa Maria team’s supervision.
Gradually, Min-kyu’s feelings for Ji-ah intensify, convinced that she is Aji 3. However, he becomes distraught as he perceives her merely as a robot. Consequently, he “reboots” her, erasing the robot’s memories. Subsequently, Baek-gyun substitutes Ji-ah with the real Aji 3. Ji-ah, having also fallen for Min-kyu, flees the city in an attempt to escape her feelings for him.
Min-kyu discovers Ji-ah’s deception and the true nature of Aji 3, triggering a severe allergic reaction that nearly proves fatal. Baek-gyun intervenes and saves Min-kyu. Filled with anger, Min-kyu severs all connections and relationships with them due to their betrayal and manipulation of his emotions. Ji-ah confesses everything to Min-kyu, expressing her love for him. They rediscover their affection, this time as human beings.
Prior to the reboot, Aji 3 had stored video footage and data from the trials with Kim Min-kyu in a concealed location. Unfortunately, this cache gets hacked, exposing the details of Min-kyu’s condition. Just in the nick of time, Min-kyu manages to thwart the attempt. Eventually, evidence emerges linking Hwang Do-won and Martin to the murder of Chairman Park. Some individuals attempt to restore and reintegrate Aji 3 within the Santa Maria group. Eventually, the Santa Maria group successfully unveils a new robot after altering its appearance.
