“It has been an honor to adapt Margaret Atwood’s groundbreaking novel into a TV series, and we’re excited to bring viewers a sixth and final season,” said Miller. “Hulu and MGM have been great partners throughout this journey, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our dedicated fans.”

As previously stated, the series was created by Bruce Miller and Warren Leight. MGM Television produces it with HBO, which has been airing the program since April 26, 2019. Furthermore, “Five years ago, The Handmaid’s Tale made history when it became the first show to win an Emmy for a streaming service. Since then, it has been my great pleasure and pleasure to collaborate with some of the finest creative minds in our business on this project. These exceptional individuals continue to create high-quality television with a significant cultural impact.

We’re grateful for MGM and the entire team’s partnership. We hope fans enjoy these last two seasons,” said Craig Erwich, President of ABC Entertainment, Hulu & Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Release Date

Handmaid's Tale Season 6 Release Date

The release date for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 is still unconfirmed, but that’s probably because the season hasn’t entered production yet. Once the writers finish the season and the cast has a chance to introduce any old or new characters, we’ll have a better idea of when it will come out.

The series is anticipated to premiere in late 2023 or early 2024, with episodes running 42–65 minutes on average. It will continue the plot from the fifth season finale, providing a proper conclusion to the story and allowing the characters and audience to see what happens.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Plot Speculation

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller discusses the upcoming conclusion of the drama. “It’s been a very luxurious time that I’ve had to think about what happens at the end of this story and exactly how we’d like to get there as a company,” he states.

“I’m thrilled we’re being able to do it on our own terms because I know how lucky that makes us — all the actors and creative people who put their hearts and souls into it.”

“It’s such a huge privilege to be able to drop the curtain the way you want,” says Miller of the series, which debuted to universal acclaim, won 15 Emmys, and has grown ominously predictive recently as America’s turbulent political climate has worsened.

“I’ve been thinking about the end of this narrative since I first read The Handmaid’s Tale,” he adds. “It’s one of those novels that when you finish reading, all you want to think about is how it ends. So, in terms of story, we’ve stayed fairly consistent with what we thought from the start: Lizzy and I spoke about, and Margaret and I talked about.”

“The show starts, and you already know what it’s about: it’s about this woman’s life. So you already know where you’re going because it’s to a certain point in the story of this woman,” he adds, giving his job as showrunner some structure. It isn’t called The June Osborne Tale; instead, it’s The Handmaid’s Tale and a particular moment in her life when she discovered a particular path. “When it’s over, thankfully, we get to go into The Testaments, which is a part of June’s narrative but not the heart of it. It’s an ideal situation to be able to peel off while still keeping our relationship with all of the characters that we’ve established and liked. The hardest and most frightening aspect is leaving the actors behind.”
