The nation today greets Ms Draupadi Murmu on winning the 15th presidential election of India after a contesting round, the voting for which was held on July 18th 2022. When will the Draupadi Murmu term end?
Ms Draupadi Murmu will be serving the office of president for a tenure of 5 years starting from July 25th 2022. Assuming no uncertainties to her health and other foreseen circumstances under which she would be obliged to resign from the office of the president, Ms Draupadi Murmu would end her term on July 25th 2027, after completing five years in her office. She would continue to sit in the office even after the completion of five years, given that either no new elections had taken place or no new president had been elected till then. She can also be re-elected as the president, given that she contests the following polls as there is no cap on a president’s re-election.
